If you belong to Amazon Mom you probably received an email regarding some changes which go into effect tomorrow, January 24th. I wanted to make sure that I shared these with all of you – just in case you had not yet seen the updates.
New Rule: Starting tomorrow, January 24, 2012, the maximum discount that you will receive on wipes and diapers will be 20%. This is comprised of a 5% Subscribe & Save discount plus an additional 15% discount for being an Amazon Mom members who are Amazon Prime Members.
Changes: The discount use to be 30%. Prime members will enjoy a 20% discount. If you are not a member of Amazon Prime, your discount will be only 5%.
I know many people do not want to have to pay for free shipping offers – such as Amazon Prime. However, if you make many purchases on Amazon during the year, it can actually pay for itself very quickly. The annual fee for Amazon Prime is $79. If you want to look at that on a per month basis, it is just $6.58 a month.
While that may seem like a service you may not want, think of it like this. When you find something you want to buy that is less than $25, you have normally add items to your shopping cart to achieve your $25 threshhold to score free shipping. Otherwise, you have to pay shipping charges. When you are an Amazon Prime member, you can just order anything at any price and never have to worry about those pesky additional charges. It truly can quickly pay for itself.
Plus, if you happen to have kids who use diapers or wipes, you will probably save MORE than the annual fee over the course of a year, just with the additional discount you will receive as part of your membership.
One More New Rule: If you have not yet signed up, you can do so this year and get 3 months of free two-day shipping offers. This is exciting because they had originally closed the offer for new members. So, you should be able to sign up here very soon. Keep in mind that once the trial period ends, you can then join Amazon Prime ($79 per year) and your Amazon Mom and Prime benefits will continue. If you do not sign up for Amazon Prime at that time, your membership will end.
