It is that time of the year — family vacation time!  As much as we would all love to plan a lavish vacation, we know that it not reality — and not within the budget!  One thing you can do is look closer to home.  Where can you drive with your family to get away?  Here in Kansas City, there are some destinations such as Branson, St. Louis and Omaha!  I’ve been to Omaha a few times and it is a great city – with so much to see and do!

There is so much to see and do in Omaha – which is why you should check out Omaha Adventure.  I love the way that this site makes it so simple for you to plan your trip!   You can click the Build Your Personal Trip Itinerary before you leave and plan out everything you want to see and do while you are there.  Nothing is worse than forgetting to make a visit to a location – and this can help you remember everything you want to see and do during your trip.

To be honest, when I first think Microsoft Store, I think “just another computer store.”  Or, at least that is what I use to think.  I recently had a chance to visit our local store and walked away with a head full of knowledge and anxious to go back to learn more and spend more time there!

When I first arrived at the store, I was instantly greeted by someone.  When I told her I wanted to just learn more about their store, I was introduced to a gentleman and without hesitation, he took the time to give me a complete tour of their store.  We went through each and every department and service that they offer and he explained them all in detail (and he didn’t even have to look at at any notes — he really knew everything).  Being a consumer, I appreciated his knowledge and the way he explained product features and differences in language I could actually understand!

He shared information about the different Surface Tablets (which are totally incredible, by the way), the difference between ultrabooks and laptops.  He showed me what the windows phones functions could offer.  I learned about Smart Glass — a feature which allows you to take your games and other Xbox items with you on your mobile device.  I experienced the Xbox 360 corner and checked out all of the accessories they sell.  It was more than just products, I also learned about services.

Surface Pro

They offer Answer Desk as well as personal training and workshops.  You can get free technical support and protection right in the store – with highly qualified technicians.  While you can make an appointment if you need help, you don’t need to do that.  You can walk in with your PC and they will help you out.  They can teach you everything from how to put parental controls to work to how to set up your mailbox.   If your PC has malware or registry errors, they can do a tune-up and get that taken care of for you.  The best part of all – you did not even need to purchase your product from them to get this service!    If you can’t get into the store, they can even try to remote connect and fix your PC in your home!  I love the Answer Desk (and am sure I’ll be using it to get my husband’s PC fixed up – it is a mess).

The other feature they offer is the theater.  You can actually host organization meetings (Girl Scounts), birthday parties, meetings, homeschool sessions – anything you want  You can bring in your own food and beverages to make your meeting just what you want for it to be.  And believe it or not, this is all free!  If you happen to host 6 or more sessions within a year, you will be entered to win a $50 gift card.  They’ve always supported non-profit organizations from Girl Scouts to the YMCA, so helping support your local group by hosting a meeting is something that they are more than thrilled to offer (available only in stores with the theater – contact your store to arrange a meeting).

Make sure you also check your local store for Youth Spark Summer Camps, starting June 3rd; Tech Tots camps for kids ages 2 – 5 to learn things such as keyboard skill; they even offer different Gaming Events.

I love getting together with my friends and neighbors – especially when I haven’t really seen them very much during the winter months.  We always enjoy great conversation, wonderful laughs and of course – amazing food.  This time around, I went a different route.  Instead of our traditional buffet or grilling, we decided to give Michael Angelo’s Flatbread and cuisines a try instead.

I will admit that I was a tad apprehensive, after all, I’d not tried this before.  What if we didn’t like it?  Should I be ready with a back up plan?  I decided to just throw caution to the wind and headed out and picked up their newest product – Michael Angelo’s Flatbread.  I found all three varieties – Pepperoni & Salami Flatbread, Mediterranean Flatbread, and Sausage & Mushroom Flatbread – at my local Walmart.  I picked up several packages as well as some Michael Angelo’s Lasagne and Chicken Picatta.  I grabbed items for a salad and some pie for dessert.  I hoped it would go over well.  I was shocked.

Every time I pulled some out of the oven, it would be gone in a flash (this photo above was taken within 2 minutes after I had the flatbread cut – the board was full of food).  We all absolutely LOVED it.  Everyone raved about how delicious it was and said that they couldn’t wait to actually pick it up themselves.  One friend even went out the next day and found it at our local grocery store and let me know that it was just $4.99 there (she was using a coupon I gave her to grab a couple for her family).  I was absolutely amazed that this was a party quality food – from my freezer.

It was quick and convenient (20 min from freezer to table).   It was filling for my guests and no on left hungry.  My personal favorite was the pepperoni and salami (reminded me of a great pizza) and my husband couldn’t get enough of the Mediterranean Flatbread.

We had a great time and the amazing food just complimented our evening.  You can find Michael Angelo’s Flatbreads for $4.97 at your local Walmart (and maybe a bit more at your grocery store).   If you plan on having any get together soon, such as Mother’s Day or even a graduation party, you might want to grab a couple of boxes while you are at the store.  Fine quality at a price that I can afford!

It’s no secret that one of my favorite places to dine is Subway.  I love the healthy options for both my kids and me.  No french fries.  Not fatty burgers.  Just a great way to get a simple meal that won’t pack on calories that we just don’t need!

My kids are pretty picky about their snacks (as am I).  There is a lot of “junk” out there and I want them to eat something that they not only love, but I can actually support them eating.  They love the Quaker Big Chewy bars — chocolate chip of course.  They think they are getting a yummy treat (which is true), but I feel good that they are eating a wholesome snack.

If you have kids, you might find that Chicken Nuggets are a child favorite (or at least they are for my kids).  We’ve tried more than one brand before, but we always come back to Fast Fixin’ Nuggets or Popcorn chicken.  I like that they are easy to fix, but don’t taste like “fast food”
