Throughout the past several years, I’ve heard so many excuses when it comes to investing. “I don’t have the money right now”, “the economy’s in the dump”, and “It’s not the right type of market for me” are all excuses I’ve heard. But the truth is, you do have a little money you can invest, the economy is doing much better, and most importantly, it’s a great market for just about everyone right now! I know, that’s not a statement said much when talking about investing, but it’s true.

The last open investing day of 2013 brought smiles from ear to ear for most investors. Everything was close to or meeting records highs. DOW and S&P both broke all time records while Nasdaq inched up on a score that they haven’t seen in 14 years, and the last investment day of 2013 wasn’t the only time we saw that throughout the year. As a matter of fact, Dow hit all time highs 52 times throughout the year, and the other markets weren’t on the losing end either.

As the market continued to get better and better, more and more people started to invest, and for good reason. They saw others making profits and wanted in on the action. However, there are still tons of people that aren’t investing because the market isn’t “ripe” enough yet. Well, I’m here to tell you it is. The bottom line is, the markets have been moving at record rates. They can’t continue to move like this forever. Therefore, right now is the time to get in and take advantage of all of this positive movement.

New To Investing? Not Sure How To Start?

Another thing that may be holding you back from taking advantage of this incredibly positive market is knowledge. If you’ve never invested in the past, or only invested very little, you may feel lost when it comes time to figure out where to invest your money. Here are a couple different options to start you off with.

Betterment – In my humble opinion, Betterment is the perfect place for beginners to start. That’s because you don’t have to make any major investment decisions using their platform. Instead, you just let Betterment know how much money you have to invest, what your goals are, and how much risk you’re willing to take on. After that, they invest your money for you. And, they’re so good at it that when I was testing them, I saw a 9% growth in my investment in less than 3 months. To learn more about Betterment, click here.

OptionsXpress – OptionsXpress is a great platform for beginners and experts alike. They offer intuitive training, how to guides, and other informational resources. However, I think the most valuable thing that they offer to beginner investors is the virtual market place. Testing your strategies can cost quite a bit of money. That is, if you have to put your money on the line. However with OptionsXpress, you’ve got a virtual market place to work through first. Simply put, you test your strategy by trading funny money. When you’re happy with what you see, you can start putting your real investment dollars into the pot. To learn more about OptionsXpress, click here!
