Come and join in the fun, hosted by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a celebration of Cinco de Mayo brings dancing, food and celebration in Kansas City’s Crown Center Plaza.  You can head here for more details.

Sprint Family Fun Days
Power & Light District, Kansas City
Saturday, May 15th
11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Cost: Free

Join Mr. Stinky Feet for a concert, learn about reptiles, and a fun puppet show by Stone Lion Puppet Theatre in Kansas City’s Power & Light District.  You can head here for more information.

Back to the Future – Lawn Movie
Park Place in Barkley Square, Leawood, KS
Friday, May 14th
8:30 p.m.
Cost: FREE

Grab your blankets, lawn chairs and family and stretch out on the grass for a showing of Back to the Future.   You can purchase concessions there — but  no coolers or alcohol allowed.  In case of inclement weather call: 913-932-2433 (to verify if there will be a showing or not).  (Thanks KC Parent!)


Merriam Turkey Creek Festival
Antioch Park, Merriam, KS
Saturday, May 15th
10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Cost: Free

Come join the parade (at 11:00 a.m.), arts and crafts, concessions and lots of family fun at the annual Merriam Turkey Creek Festival.  Head here for more details including a detailed schedule of events.  (Thanks KC Parent!)

Dinosaurs Unearthed
Union Station, Kansas City
Tuesday – Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sunday:  12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Cost:  Tickets range from $9.50 – $13.50 (click here and select tickets)

While this isn’t really free or inexpensive, it was pretty incredible, so I had to share it.  There is an AMAZING dinosaur exhibit at Union Station that includes “live” dinosaurs.  Other events include an Extreme Screen Movie, Build a Dino and a Dino Dig.  You can find all of the details here.
