Most of the country has seen unusually warm weather so far this winter, however it’s still cold so we’ve been inside a lot. I’m not sure who is more anxious for the warmer weather, myself or the kids? We’re ready for a change of scenery, or at least some new activities. I had a few things to bring out of my recipe book such as homemade playdoh and Goop, but went searching for some more things on Pinterest.
Here is one of my favorite things I found! Besides easy, it’s items that I always have in my kitchen.
Homemade Finger Paints – Image and Recipe from Easie Peasie
3 T Sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 C Corn Startch
2 C Water
Containers for storage (baby food jars work well!)
Combine all ingredients in a small sauce pan and warm until mixture thickens. Let cool and pour into containers. Add food coloring to create desired colors.
Homemade Play-doh
1/2 C Salt
1 C Boiling Water
1 T Vegetable Oil
2 T Cream of Tarter
1 pkg Unsweetened Kool-aid
1 C Flour
Mix boiling water, vegetable oil and salt together, stir until water turns milky in color from salt disolving. Add flour, cream of tarter and Kool-aid packet and stir until all combined. Let cool until you can handle and knead on lightly floured surface until smooth.
Let cool completely and enjoy! I love using the kool-aid in this, it smells SOOOO good!
Goop
3 T Water
5 T Cornstarch
Sprinkle cornstarch in water slowly and mix. Adjust amounts to desired consistency. It should run through your fingers, but feel solid if you roll between your fingers.
Flubber
1 C Elmer’s Glue
3/4 C Warm Water
1/2 C Warm Water
2 tsp Borax
Mix Elmer’s Glue and 3/4 C water together in one bowl. In a seperate bowl mix together 1/2 C water and 2tsp Borax. Mix mixtures from both bowls together. Have fun!
Do you have any crafts or activities that you do with your family?
