Great Freebies & Deals for Your Child’s Good Grades

It is hard to believe that we are at the end of another quarter. While a report card’s prime positioning on the front of the refrigerator is always exciting for your child – something in return for those good grades is always better! And, when that reward is something that doesn’t cost Mom and Dad anything – it sure gets two thumbs up!

There are several merchants not only in Kansas City, but also around the country, who participate in Good Grade Rewards programs. You simply head into their location and show your child’s report card and get some great things in return! I have contacted and confirmed that these five retailers participate in such programs, however, it is always best to contact your local store to ensure they are participating. Here are a few that you can find:

Blockbuster Video: When your child’s report card shows a “B” average (or better), you can get a free video rental (non-new releases in DVD format) within 30 days of issuance. The report card must be signed by a parent or guardian. The child must be in Kindergarten through 12th Grade. You can head here for more details and information.

Krispy Kreme Donuts: Bring in your child’s report card and for each “A” that he or she has – they will be rewarded one donut! So five “A’s” = five donuts!

Chuck E. Cheese: At the end of the grading period, bring in your report card and your child can get 15 tokens for free with the purchase of a meal. Bring on the games! More details can be found here.

Interstate Bakeries Outlets: When your child’s report card has all “A’s” or “B’s” or a combination of both, print out the Student Achievement Award from here and have it signed by your child’s teacher. Then, take it with you to local Dolly Madison/Hostess/Wonder Outlet Store and they can receive a free sweet treat (and mom and dad get a free loaf of bread)!

Coach’s Corner Sport Shop (Belton, MO) and other Topps Retailers: Stop on in and show your child’s report card in exchange for free baseball cards. At the location in Belton, your child will get to spin the Wheel of Fortune if he or she has an “A” – for a chance for another free card! Find a participating store near you here.

There are other retailers that provide freebies to your student. Most of these are franchises and so some elect to participate – and others don’t. It is important that you contact your location to see if they do or not.

Pizza Hut: In addition to the Book It Program, locations in Maryland offer a good grades program. Your student can get a free personal pan pizza and beverage if he/she has 3 “A’s” on a report card. Just show it to the manager. You can find more details here. You can check with a franchise close to you to see if they have such a program.

Baskin Robbins: Some locations will give your student a free scoop of ice cream for good grades on his or her report card.

Sbarro Pizza: Each June 23rd, they celebrate PizzAchievers Day. On that day, stop at Sbarros with your report card and say, “A’s and B’s… Pizza Please!!”. Sbarro will then provide every PizzAchiever and an accompanying adult with a free slice of cheese or peperoni pizza and a small soda.

McDonald’s: You might be lucky enough to find a participating store that gives a free Happy Meal when a report card reflects nothing but A’s on it.

Family Video: Take your final report card for the year into a participating location and you can get a free rental. This offer is only good in the summer.

So, there are lots of great freebies that are out there and who knows – you probably have even more close to where you live! Did I miss any? If so, please share (and include the city/state where you live) and I’ll add them to this list. Enjoy your freebies!
