Is it true the Hen House in Lee’s Summit is closing? The local newspaper had an article reporting it would close on Christmas Eve. What a blow to the use of double coupons! Any information if another grocery chain might be moving into the store?

      Deborah-
It is closing! 🙁 6 pm on Christmas Eve. All of their employees are guaranteed jobs at the other Ball locations, and I think they are putting in a Hobby Lobby there.

      • Tracie says

Yes – I have confirmed this from the VP of Marketing with Ball Foods. Here is exactly what he told me:

Yes the Lee’s Summit Hen House will close it doors at 6 PM on December 24th. All teammates are being offered positions at our other 28 stores so no one is losing their job.

Hobby Lobby will be buying the property and converting it into a new Hobby Lobby after we vacate the building.

Our Price Chopper store at Jefferson and Blue Parkway will be picking up some of the programs we had in our Hen House – Farm To Market Bread, Tippin’s pies, all clubs will convert over to the Price Chopper (salad bar, pie, etc.), Good Natured Family Farms Fresh Beef and Chickens, etc.).

We are actively looking for a new location in Lee’s Summit. Depending on where the location is we might reenter the market with a new Hen House.

I think it is really awesome that this company is making sure no one loses their jobs because of the store closing. I think it speaks volumes to the type of company they are by the way they are treating their employees.

I’m sorry you all are losing your Hen House though!!

Wow! I’m shocked! Didn’t know this until just now. How sad the store is closing although I shouldn’t be surprised since they don’t seem to get as much business there as compared to other Hen House stores I visit. Glad employees get to transfer to other locations, though.
