Last Call: Help Increase My Donation to Japanese Relief

The quake and tsunami that struck Japan was monumental and created epic destruction throughout their country.  The tsunamis that have been following with the pacific are also bring with them massive destruction.    As I sit here in my home in the middle of the United States I feel like I need to do something.  Obviously I can’t physically help anyone.  However, there are a couple of things that I (and actually all of us)  can do right now.

Pray.  It takes a few minutes to send up your prayers for all of those affected by the quake.  It isn’t only in Japan, there are people all over the world who have been affected by this quake.

Give.  I know that purse strings are tight and our belts are all tightened as much as they can be.  However, if every one could give even $5, we could raise, $1,543,727,690. That will never happen, but just know this – your $5 CAN make a difference!

Of course, when there are natural disasters such as these, the scammers come out to pray on the goodness of others.  Make sure that you know the organization before you donate.  Stick with the sites you know such as The American Red Cross, The Salvation Army or local organizations who are able to assist in situations such as these.  Here are some sites/links that you can use, which are trusted, so that you can help right now:

The American Red Cross:  You can make a donation on line.  Or, you can simply text REDCROSS to 90999 and instantly donate $10 to the Japanese relief efforts.

The Salvation Army:  You can also donate on-line here as well.  You can also text JAPAN or QUAKE to 80888 and make an instant donation.

Heart to Heart International:  This is the organization I love the most.  Only 2% of all donations are kept to cover overhead.  That means 98% of what you send to them will actually make it to the quake ravaged areas.  This is where we will be sending our money this time around.

I’ve even joined other bloggers in this relief effort.  They all agree that we can do something and should if we can.  You can visit their sites by clicking each link below and leave them comments as well (and I will keep updating this as I have more join in the event).

Even if you give out of your own pocket, you can actually help up the anty here at Penny Pinchin’ Mom.  For each link/comment left below, I will contribute $0.50 to Heart to Heart International — up to $250.  If you have a blog and are doing the same thing – please leave a link to your POST below so that others can join in the efforts to help.  If you don’t have a blog, just leave your name in the comments and share your thoughts for the people affected by this tragedy.
