Menu Plan Saturday: 7/24 – 7/30

Time for a new feature here at Penny Pinchin’ Mom!  I know that many of you have seen Menu Plan’s for Monday, but I shop on Saturday, so I need to know what we’ll eat before Monday morning.  So, every Saturday at 9:00 a.m., you’ll be able to check in and see what I’ve got on the menu for this week.  We will eventually add a way for everyone to share recipes right here, but until then, you’ll just have to click the links that I’ve provided.

Now, before we get started, there are some forms that you might want to download/save/print in order to make your menu planning and shopping a whole lot simpler.  First of all, I have created a Weekly Menu Planner.  This form will hopefully help you better plan what you will eat each day of the week. It also includes a space for you to indicate where you found the recipe (i.e. my website, a certain page number of a cookbook, etc).

The second form you may wish to print is a Weekly Shopping List.  You will find this list broken down into the same categories I use for my weekly deals.  There is also a check box so you can mark items off as you toss them into your shopping cart.  I’ve even added a “Q” next to each line item.  Simply circle this if you have a coupon for that product, so you don’t forget to use it when you head to checkout.

Finally, I’ve actually teamed up with a great website called which can also help you come up with some new recipes to serve your family.  You will find her Penny Pick here each week.  Not only will you get some great ideas, her meals are planned around the weekly ads (Kansas City region) which can help save you even more when you shop.  Don’t worry, even if you don’t live in KC, you’ll still love her great ideas!

So, now, onto what my family will be eating this week.  If the recipe is available on line, I have directly linked it for you. If it’s my own recipe, I’ve typed it below for you.  Keep in mind that the meals I select are based upon a combination of what I might find on sale combined with items from our pantry/freezer.

Sunday:  Grilled Bruschetta chicken, corn on the cob, salad and dinner rolls
Monday:  Ham and Cheddar Melts with Pasta Salad and fresh vegetables
Tuesday:   Chicken Salads
Wednesday:  Taco Salad
Thursday:  Leftovers
Friday:   Eat Out
Saturday:   Smoked Sausage with homemade macaroni & cheese, carrots/broccoli (note cook time for mac & cheese)

Chicken Salad

2 – 3 Small Chicken Breasts
Grated Parmesan Cheese
Tomato – Diced
Broccoli – Diced
Peppers – Diced
Dressing of choice

Brown and cube chicken.  Toss with other ingredients (other than dressing).  Top with dressing of choice.

Since this is a new feature, your feedback would be GREATLY appreciated!  If there is something that you think could make this even better, please let me know!  My site is for all of you, so it is important to me to provide content that works for YOU!

Thanks Heidi! I hope that this helps busy moms and dads to get a better handle on what to cook and even those grocery store trips!

🙂 I do Once a Month cooking, so I menu plan like this for 24 meals at a time. The one thing I find most helpful when I do this, is after I plan my menu, I write my grocery list…then I send my husband shopping in our pantry! I inadvently think we have something we don’t, or buy things we do. As crazy as it may seem, when I cook and freeze I often save my families groc budget $100s of dollars(buying in bulk and with coupons) and time because there is no crazy dinner prep each night! 🙂
But, shopping your pantry before the store is essential to making this work! 🙂

Great Feature, it is going to be fun!

I also shop my pantry too Mary Anne! Nothing is more frusrating than forgetting something you need or worse yet – forgetting something you are needing!

We have this ALL of the time Kellee — it is the best! We usually have some of the topping mix left over, so we’ll toss it with some red leaf lettuce and it makes a nice salad to compliment the chicken.
