Menu Plan Saturday: 8/28 – 9/3

Are you ready for another Menu Plan Saturday?  Before you look at what I’ve planned for my family for this week, be sure to download/print your forms:

Weekly Menu Planner.  This form will hopefully help you better plan what you will eat each day of the week. It also includes a space for you to indicate where you found the recipe (i.e. my website, a certain page number of a cookbook, etc).

Weekly Shopping List.  You will find this list broken down into the same categories I use for my weekly deals.  There is also a check box so you can mark items off as you toss them into your shopping cart.  I’ve even added a “Q” next to each line item.  Simply circle this if you have a coupon for that product, so you don’t forget to use it when you head to checkout.

If you want a few ideas other than those listed below, be sure to check out  Each week you can find her Penny Pick here — meals planned on sales in the Kansas City area. Don’t worry, even if you don’t live in KC, you’ll still love her great ideas!

So, now, onto what my family will be eating this week.  If the recipe is available on line, I have directly linked it for you. If it’s my own recipe, I’ve included the details as well.  Keep in mind that the meals I select are based upon a combination of what I might find on sale combined with items from our pantry/freezer.

Sunday:  Chicken Parmigiana, Salad, French Bread
Monday: Smoked Sausage, macaroni & cheese, broccoli
Tuesday:  Leftovers
Wednesday: Ham & Cheddar Melts, veggies, chips
Thursday:   Baked Ziti
Friday:  Dine Out
Saturday:  Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans

1 16 oz package of Penne Pasta
1 lb italian sausage
1 jar pasta sauce
1 16 oz pkg mozzarella cheese

Preheat your oven to 350.  Cook pasta al dente.  Cook sausage and drain (you may add your own spices as you desire while you brown the meat).   Return noodles to large pot and add in sausage and sauce.  Mix thoroughly.  Grease a 9×13 pan and pour the entire mixture into it and flatten.  Top with mozzarella cheese and bake for 20 – 25 min.

2 – 3 minute steaks
1-2 eggs
2 – 3 Tbs milk
1 – 2 cups bread crumbs
vegtable oil

Heat small amount of oil in pan (around 1/4 cup)  Whip eggs and milk in shallow bowl.  Pour breadcrumbs onto plate or platter.   Dip one steak in the egg mixture (both sides) and then dip in the breadcrumbs (both sides).  Repeat and dip again.  Place into heated skillet (keep on med to med/low heat).  Cook on one side for 4 min or so (until nice brown coating). Flip and cook the other side to make the ouside brown.  Continue to flip until meat is cooked (I usually cut into it with a knife and check for pink.

(If you wish to have a cream gravy on yours – I just honestly pick up a package of McCormick Gravy mix and whip it according to the instructions — but we actually don’t like the gravy in our house.)

Happy Dining!
