National Drug Take Back Day 2013

If you look through your medicine cabinet, you might find medications which you no longer need to take.  You might even find some medications which are now expired.   What would happen if one of your children found and took them?  They could end up very sick, or even worse.  It is important that you properly dispose of these meds.

One easy way to make sure that they are properly disposed of is to just collect and take them to a Drug Drop Off collection site.  Fortunately, this is happening tomorrow, October 26th, across the country!  Between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm, just take all of your medications to a collection site near you. You can visit the DEA website and find one close to where you live.

What should you do if you do not live near one of these locations or you just can’t make it out tomorrow?  Should you just throw your medication out?  It is very important that you dispose of these properly.  You can read this FDA release on how to get rid of medications you no longer need.  You should never just throw them into the trash directly, as they could be fished out and end up in the hands of someone who does not need them.

It is just important that you remove medications from your home to keep your family safe.
