Penny Pinchin’ Pro: Spa Night Savings

Suellyn emailed me this past fall with a great idea on a gift she received.  While her’s was for Christmas, this is a fun idea for any occasion and with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought it was the PERFECT time to share it with all of you.

I had a fun weekend with my daughter and I wanted to share so others out there might do the same. For Christmas last year my daughter got the ‘Mom and Me’ book from American Girl for $5.  In it is a spa night experience and we combined it with the movie night experience.  For spa night, we made a banana and honey mash mask, hand and foot scrub.   Movie night was a Little House on the Prairie Marathon with a homemade popcorn recipe in the  book.  I spent less than $20 for a weekend of fun.

We got the bananas, honey, sugar, baby oil, popcorn seeds, canola oil and cucumbers along with Lifewater (remember those old b1g1 coupons that recently expired? they came in handy).   We are a military family on a very limited budget but this weekend was one of the best we have had together for a girls weekend and it was so cheap. I know we will be doing it again. I just thought I would share in case you knew of others in our situation.
