With 3 kids, a husband, this website and a dog, I admit that I need my daily caffeine fix.  My beverage of choice is not coffee, but rather Diet Coke.  That means I am always on the lookout for a discount or deal to help me save money in any way I can.  When I was asked about a SodaStream machine, I instantly knew that this could be a great way for me to save money for my family — without giving up my favorite soft drink.

The way this machine works is simple.  You attach the carbonation container.  Fill the bottle with water to the line and then attach it to the Soda Stream machine.  You make 3 simple presses to carbonate the water.  You add in a capful of your flavor (which there are TONS of flavors) shake, pour and enjoy!!  The beauty of this machine is that it doesn’t just make soda, you can even make your very own sparkling water!!

The big thing people always wonder about is the cost.  This is the part that I love.  Here is the information as shared on the SodaStream Machine site:

After your initial purchase of a home soda maker package, you’ll enjoy soda water in a reusable 1-liter PET bottle for just $0.20 per liter and flavored sodas for as little as $0.57 per liter, before any applicable shipping charges.

Penguin soda maker users will pay just $0.46 per liter of premium sparkling water and as little as $0.83 per liter of fresh gourmet soda. (The glass carafe holds about 2/3 of a liter.) When applicable and depending on location and order size, shipping adds $0.02 to $0.06 per liter.

As you can see, it truly is a less expensive alternative to the cans and liters at the store.  The other thing that I really appreciated (as a mom) is that I can make all sorts of flavors for my kids.  This means I am not purchasing 4 different types of soda to have it sit and not be consumed and then thrown away.  It can really save us money!

My kids and I have had a lot of fun trying all sorts of soda.  They can’t tell the difference between the soda I make at home and that purchased from the grocery store.  If you love soda, diet or even sparkling water, you might want to check into one of these machines!

The systems retail for around $80 at most retailers like Target and the syrup is sold for $5 at Target and Walmart stores.
