I like a clean house.  I hate dirty floors.  I find myself running the vacuum cleaner at least 3 to 4 times a week.  That is partly due to having a black lab who sheds like nothing else out there.  I’ve tried several vacuum sweepers over the years and so I feel that I am somewhat an expert when it comes to reviewing them.  I recently had a chance to try out the new Hoover Windtunnel Bagless Upright and share my thoughts below (But don’t skip over that part – as if you read on – I have a great deal for all of my readers!!!)

THE REVIEW:

I could not have received the Hoover Windtunnel Air at a better time. I had just “glittered” a little Fairy Princess for Halloween, and I had the remnants of preparation — all.over.my.house! It was also going to be tested on the steps heading upstairs.  These steps get A LOT of traffic on them, and if I’m staying on top of things — they need to be vacuumed almost daily! (Which, I don’t stay on top of all the time– so, this was going to be a good test!) ;-)

I first attacked the glitter. It was literally covering the tile floors in my kitchen.  The first thing I noticed about the Hoover Windtunnel Air was how light it was compared to my Dyson.  It really did feel noticeably different.  It was easy to push, pull and cart around.  The suction on the vacuum seemed to be pretty good!  I did have to invent a trick move when going over my rugs — but, once I perfected my move (go forward and tilt to the right and up before pulling back) I was pleased with the end results of my rugs! With this vac, you have the choice to turn the brushes off.  I tried attacking the glitter on the tile floor both ways, and both ways won the battle, but while the brushes were on, it definitely did a better job!

When I started to carry it up the stairs to tackle the steps and hallway, I again noticed just how lightweight this vacuum was! After sweeping up all the dog hair and kid “traffic” off of my steps, I broke out the tools.  This was the only part that was a little frustrating for me at first.

You have to actually first unhook the main vacuum hose and take out the handle.  Then you remove the extension hose and attach it to the main hose.  After that, you then attach the handle to the two hoses.  I will admit, this was not convenient to do — at first.  However, once I figured it out, and got over the “change”, it wasn’t hard at all to accomplish.  The quick tool attachment was very nice to use.  I could switch from the corner tool to the brush tool with a simple tab and slide action.  I liked that! It was perfect for going from the corners of my steps to the tops of my baseboards, without needing 2 separate tools!

Overall, this was a nice vacuum for daily jobs.  It’s lightweight, and the tools are very easy to use once you figure out how to attach them all.  The bagless canister feature is also easy to use and much better than changing a bag in my opinion. I will wash my canister frequently, as I don’t want to see the dust and grime the great suction has picked up! :-)   I would recommend this to a friend looking for a new daily vacuum!
