While there is not a Safeway nearby where I live, I do know that many of you do shop at this chain of stores. So, when reader Cindy emailed me about a change in their coupon policy, I wanted to make sure to get this out to all of you.
The new policy states that if your printed coupons do not scan at the register, they will no longer be accepted. This seems to be the trend with more and more stores. The reason behind this is to cut down on coupon fraud. Many fraudulent coupons will not scan and so as a result, it can diminish the stores’ losses. However, on the flip side, there are times when legitimate coupons will not scan. I know that this is frustrating (I deal with this myself), but I do understand why this is.
Of course, if you feel that you would like to share your thoughts with Safeway, just make sure to fill out the complaint cards in the store if you have any issues. Changes only ever happen when people speak up.
Thanks Cindy!
