SavingStar: Get your e-Coupons Before the End of the Month

Earlier this week, I mentioned SavingStar and that it was being launched at HyVee.  The great news is that this offer is now available at more than 24,000 stores nationwide!  If you are not sure about this program, read a little more and I’ll fill you in.

This concept is new, but it is so awesome!  You actually earn money when you shop.  Yep – EARN money!  Here’s all you have to do:

  1. Go to SavingStar and input your zip code to find out the stores near where you live that are particiapting (you might be surprised at those you see).
  2. Go ahead and create an account – which is totally free.
  3. You will find your stores listed.  Just enter you store reward card number into the spaces provided.
  4. If your store doesn’t have a reward card, you can inquire at their Customer Service desk about getting a UPromise card that you can use to attach to your account.
  5. Reivew the e-coupons and add them to your card.
  6. When you shop you will show your card and pay the stores’ price for your item (you should not stack paper coupons with your e-coupons).  You will NOT save anything at the register.
  7. Within 7 – 30 days, you have the value of the e-coupon in your account (there are differences as each store submits data on a different schedule).  As soon as SavingStart gets the information, it is posted.
  8. When you reach $5 in your account, you can then redeem it for various rewards – including a direct payout of cash to you via Pay Pal.

Some of the stores that I found that participate include:

  • CVS
  • Hy-Vee
  • Hen House Market (Kansas City)
  • Country Mart
  • Kroger
  • Rite Aid
  • Food Lion
  • …..and lots more!

The e-coupons reset each month, so make sure you check those available this month and use them before they are gone!  Head to SavingStar and get signed up.

I’m confused as to what you’re saying when you say NOT to stack with paper Qs….I do understand that the SavingStar “coupon” discount will NOT come off at the register, but are you saying that if we have, for example, a 50Cent paper Manuf. Q for TP and a $1 SavingStar discount that is being applied, we’ll lose the paper discount and/or SavingStar discount if we try to use both? Sorry for the confusion, but what you said didn’t seem right to me….TIA

Hi Dena, Josh from SavingStar here. SavingStar eCoupons will work whether or not you combine them with other services’ coupons, but they are not intended to be used this way. Manufacturers typically have policies limiting use to 1 coupon per purchase, but it is up to each shopper to follow these policies. Using “store” coupons are not a problem. Hope that helps! Thanks, Josh

Any ideas on which Hy-Vees know what a upromise card is? Mine told me that it didn’t exist even though I have seen someone use one at that store. They said upromise is all online, there is no card.

Ellen – did you speak to the store manager? All Hy-Vees should have Upromise keytags at customer service. The good news is that Hy-Vee will be introducing a cobranded Hy-Vee and SavingStar keytag in a few weeks. -Josh

I did not, I will give that a try next time I am in.
    Thanks for the suggestion.

I went to hyvee and they had no idea what i was talking about. I dint really understand what it is im asking for either. I already have a upromise credit card and they dont have a rewards card, all they said they had was a upromise credit card which i already have and they knew nothing about savingstar. Could u please tell me what it is im asking for?!

More than likely the stores don’t know about SavingStar itself – only the UPromise card. All you need to do is sign up at SavignStar and enter your UPromise card information for HyVee’s rewards card info. Then, you can upload coupons to your UPromise card and when you shop at HyVee, use that card for your purchase and the e-coupon value will be in your SavingStar account within 7 – 30 days.
