I was recently contacted by TJ Maxx about seeing what I could do with $25.00 in their store.  Now, they told me that this could be a great Father’s Day challenge.  However, when my I told my husband, he said that he did NOT want me to spend any of the money on anything for him — but to get something that I wanted.

Of course, in true “mommy fashion” there was nothing I needed for myself.  So, I headed out to see just how far $25.00 could go.  When I got to the store, I still thought I’d try to get something for my husband for Father’s Day.  I live a little distance from the store, so I wasn’t sure about clothing as if it didn’t fit, I’d have to drive back to the store.  So, then I thought about socks and underwear.  The prices amazed me — they WERE 50% less than what I’ve paid elsewhere.  But, of course, they didn’t have anything in my husband’s size.

So, I looked through …what else….TOYS!!!  I never splurge and just get things for my kids for no reason at all.  So, I thought that this could be fun.  Some of the toys were unfortunately, broken or didn’t work, but after much looking, I found the following:  Melissa & Doug Giant Floor Puzzle, 2 Mini Cars from the movie Cars, and a cute Little Tikes pizza set.  I even picked up a new bamboo cutting board for me.  My total….$27.xx!!  I thought that was a pretty good haul too!

Dads Rock Giveaway #2: $60.00 in Cocoon GRID-IT Products

I am an organizational junkie.  I admit it.  I know it drives more poor husband insane at times, but I can’t help it!  Even when I pack to go out of town, everything has to be organized neatly in my suitcase.    So, anything I can use to simplify my process is a help to me.

I recently had a chance to try the Cocoon GRID-IT system.  This thing rocks!  It is a large grid pad with elastic bands that criss cross all over it.  You simply slide in your item beneath the strap and it locks it into place.  Here’s a picture of the system:

I also thought that the Minfolio Case was pretty awesome too (see photo above).  This thing is PERFECT for the small gaming systems (Nintendo DS, etc) to keep everthing in it’s place.  We are actually thinking of getting one of these for our daughter for Christmas this year, so this case will be PERFECT for her to keep her game, cords, etc. all in one nice compact case.
