Target: Revised Coupon Policy About Stacking BOGO & Dollar Off Coupons

Previously, I shared the issue of using the dollar off coupons in conjunction with B1G1 Free offers.   This stacking offer can work if the bar codes work together – however many times it will not.  Not only have the coupons been coded differently, some stores have now revised policies about stacking dollar off coupons with B1G1 coupons – and Target is one of them.

Target has just updated their coupon policy to state:

Buy One Get One Free Coupons (BOGO):

  • BOGO coupons cannot be combined (i.e. you cannot use two BOGO coupons on two items and get both for free). Unless stated otherwise on the coupon, the use of one Buy One Get One Free coupon requires that two of the valid items are presented at checkout of which one item will be charged to the guest and the 2nd item will be discounted by its full retail price.
  • A second cents-off coupon of the same type cannot be redeemed towards the purchase price of the first item.If a Target BOGO coupon is used, one additional manufacturer coupon maybe used on the first item.
If a Manufacturer BOGO coupon is used, one additional Target coupon may be used on the first item.

So, make sure you take note of this change in the policy and also print a new one so that you have the most recent copy with you when you shop.

Thanks, Rebecca!

Thanks for the notice about the update!

I’m sure most larger stores will have to eventually decide which side of this issue they’re on and clearly spell it out in their coupon policy.

Just to show why stores need written policies, on a couponing forum this morning, I read someone saying that they routinely use two MFR $-off coupons PLUS a MFR BOGO, all on the same 2 items. They said, “it’s all in the way you present the coupons.”

Unreal.

They don’t realize (or care) what they’re doing to the rest of us.

At Walmart I regularly use 2 manufactured bogo coupons on 2 products and get them free…..also at walmart you can stack competitor coupons with manufacture coupons……if they have a problem with the competitors coupon just tell them they have to ring it up as an ad match. =)

angel, lol no. competitor coupons are only accepted if it names an exact price. ad match is only for exact stated price too. competitor coupons for dollars or % off are NOT ACCEPTED at Walmart. another case of someone only reading what they want to. you probably look for the newest or busiest person to pick on. come through my line, ill turn you down cold with a smile :)

Target store coupons are a complicated way of offering a discount, Walmart just rolls the price back to EVERYONE, no coupon needed. of COURSE Target takes their coupon with a bogo, its just a price reduction, not like a real coupon they have to redeem it in the mail. the entire point of the store coupon is to get you in the store, its a loss leader.

if someone purchases two items, we can send the manufacturer ONE bogo coupon. thats it. the reason Target allows two coupons (one store, one manufacturers) is because THE STORE COUPON IS NOT A COUPON, ITS A STORE DISCOUNT. as i said earlier, Walmart only matches exact prices, not discounts.
