Well folks, the day appears to be upon us. It looks like Walmart is going to be ending it’s price matching program.
Starting in June, many stores around the country will no longer price match. Those stores are promising to lower prices on many items which customers price match. In theory, this will eliminate any need to price match at all. This includes both weekly ad and on-line prices.
Recently, Walmart announced that they were investing in lowering prices. This was to be a process to take place over a couple of years. However, they are ahead of schedule.
As a result, they also realized that there was no longer any need to price match at these stores. So, they have not ending price matching in select regions around the country. The change affects around 500 stores at this time, which is around 10% of the total stores nationwide. The biggest hit at this time appears to be all of the state of Florida (so if you live there, keep your eyes open at your store).
If you are using SavingsCatcher, you are still in luck as that program is not ending. You will be able to continue using this to get cash back on any price adjustments at other stores. Read more about SavingsCatcher.
So, have you seen the stores at checkout where you shop? Will this change affect where and how you shop? Are you glad to see this finally come to an end?
