I was just watching television and they said that the prices increased in the grocery storey around 3.4% this last month (Fox News). There is no way you can get around it. With the increase in fuel, frozen crops in Mexico and now devastation overseas, we are all just going to have to tighten our wallets and work harder to save money. Here are the easy things you can do to save:
Watch for the deals. Of course, you are doing this now. However, as prices increase you will want to watch them even more.
Switch brands. Most “off brands” are packaged by the big names – just have a store label on them. If you need to scale back at the store, you might want to consider checking out other brands.
Prepare to shop. If you don’t make out your menus and then a shopping list before you shop, you can spend more. Just being prepared can help you really save.
Do your homework. Before you shop, take a few minutes and review the Coupon Database, coupons.com or even the manufacturer’s website to find a few more coupons that can help you save even more.
Consider made at home products. Rather than purchase pre-made items such as bread or even household cleaners, why not purchaes the items you will need in order to make them your own. Often times, the prices you pay are for convenience when you can really save
What have you done to help save money when you shop?

Another thing that has been paying off for me is using Swagbucks to print Coupons.com coupons. For each coupon you redeem, you get 10 Swagbucks. I have earned quite a few Swagbucks this way in addition to saving money by using coupons!

Sarah, thanks for that tip! I didn’t know that you got swagbucks for redeeming coupons from the Swagbucks site. I am going to start going through that site to print my coupons from now on!

Glad I could help Deb! Yes, I usually just check Swagbucks coupons every Sunday and then throughout the week if I hear of a good coupon on Coupons.com, I route myself through the Swagbucks site. I haven’t checked, but I am sure I have at least received 100-200 Swagbucks this way.

I am with you on this. Since I have become more aware of what the SAHM entails I am definitely doing my part for the family!!

sorry I did not notice your question…well I have started cooking all our Indian favorites helping other housewives in the same mission(esp. with out cultural hesitance to use coupons) and since they see how serious I am about this, i sometimes get tips thrown my way…my family becomes the “to-go” family in process…

I am with you on this one! I do look for the best deals to try and figure out what works best for my family. I used to go to several places to save, but then the price of gas went through the roof too, so I found a place that has a happy balance! Once gas comes down, maybe I will consider going back to multiple stores to save. I also go online to print grocery coupons and I pick meals that will last longer so I am shopping less often. I hope this comment helps.
