October is coming to a close (which blows my mind). That also means another month of bringing breast cancer awareness to the forefront will wind down too. However, I hope that many will always keep this horrible disease in their minds.
My aunt had breast cancer many years ago. She has a successful mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. Today, she is cancer free and living a normal healthy life. What helped her was early detection. Self -exams and mammograms truly are life savers. I may not yet be 40, but since we now have a history in our family, I now get annual mammograms myself.
I hear people say that they are just so painful. Sure, it pinches for a minute and is a little bit of an uncomfortable position to stand in, but I look at it like this — 10 seconds of pain could save my life. It simply is a no-brainer for me.
I appreciate companies that stand up and really support this cause. I want to thank Fast Fixin’s for their support again this year. All month long, when specially marked backs of Fast Fixin’ products were purchased, some of the proceeds were donated to breast cancer research. You can find retailers and bloggers who joined in this great initiative this past month on Click it For Breast Cancer.
