I look forward to the Christmas season each year when they release Candy Cane Kisses! They are delicious to eat on their own, but even more delicious to eat in these cute thumbprint cookies!
These are the perfect cookie to make with your kids – because they don’t have to be perfect! They can have fun helping mix and press the cookies into the shape they want. There is no better way to top a treat than with a candy, right?! Especially when it is one of those absolutely amazing peppermint Hershey kisses.

Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Red & Green gel food coloring
- Candy Cane Kisses
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ingredients with a fork, until well mixed.
- Once combined, split the dough into two separate bowls.
- In one bowl, put a little red food dye, and in the other put the green.
- Gently mix with a fork, until it appears just swirled.
- Combine the two colors of dough back into one bowl, and gently twist them around until lightly combined so it looks red and green swirled.
- Rolls each cookie into a one to two inch ball, and place on an ungreased cookie sheet, and inch away from the others.
- Bake for ten minutes, then remove from the oven, and make “thumbprints” in the cookies using a teaspoon, to keep from burning yourself.
- Place them back in the oven to cook for another 7 minutes.
- Remove from the oven, and place the cokies on a cooling rack.
- Unwrap 12 Candy Cane Kisses from their wrappers (or however many cookies you made), and gently press them onto the thumbprints you made in each cookie.
- The kisses will melt a bit, but allow them to cool for about 30 mins before serving.
- Best served warm.
