Often times, I see questions from people about printing coupons and the errors that they receive. Some can’t print Smart Source coupons and others aren’t sure what the error messages mean. In order to help everyone answer their questions, I’ve listed out some of the most common printing issues and some steps you can take to correct them — or at least understand what they mean.
I can’t print anything that is a Smart Source coupon. This is a common problem and often times the fix is simply due to the version of Java that is installed on your computer. Simply complete an update and this can help.
When I try to print Smart Source coupons, I get the message “Sorry. Your Default Printer Is Not Supported.” Follow these simple steps to print these coupons (just change them back to the original settings when you are done printing).
- Go to Control Panel.
- Select Printers.
- Right click your printer.
- Select properties and then Advanced.
- Select the “Print Directly to Printer” option.
- Click apply.
It should now print for you. As mentioned above, make sure to change the settings back when you are done printing. If you still are unable to print, review Smart Source Help resources (go to their page and scroll down to GET HELP).
I am using Firefox (or Safari) rather than Internet Explorer, so I can’t get some of the coupons with the word “brick” in the address to print for me. This is a really simple fix. First, you will need to review the web address, which might look like this:
http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?bt=vi&tqnm=ycvlfxt83448811&o=83201&c=SJ&p=SIakdVNs
You will notice that I have highlighted the “vi” within this address. This is a code that can easily be changed to whichever browser you are using so that you can easily print your coupons. Here is what you want to change the vi (or wi in some addresses) to for each browser:
Firefox: vg or wg
Internet Explorer: vi or wi
Safari: xs
Mac with Firefox: xs
I have a mac and have lots of issues trying to get coupons to print. Many sites currently do not support Internet Explorer on Macs. Try to use either Firefox or Safari instead.
I have tried printing and it won’t work – no matter what. You might try to change your browser to Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari (depending upon which one you are currently using).
I’ve never printed the coupon before, but it says I already did – can I still get one? That depends. If the coupon starts with http://bricks………. you can. When the page loads (but before you tell it to print), scroll down to the bottom of the screen and hit the HELP link. You can request the coupon be mailed to you instead.
Do you have any other questions/issues printing your coupons? Or, have you found a solution to your own problems when it comes to printing coupons? Please share them with us because someone else might be facing your same issue and you can help them too!
Oh – and make sure to check out the great deal that I found today on saving on your ink and toner!

Thank you for this! I have been having issues with bricks and use Firefox so I will remember to change the address if needed.

I’m having an issue with Google Chrome not recognizing the already installed coupon printing software. It keeps prompting me to install it. The coupons print with no issue in Internet Explorer. I know it probably has something to do with my settings in Chrome but I’ve never changed the settings and don’t even know where to start. =/

Unfortunately, I know nothing at all about Chrome.

Previously I could print from SmartSource. Now I receive a message that my coupon is printing and a bar with the words Initializing Print in the center. The bar has a small area filled with the color blue. Nothing else ever happens. I tried adding the latest Java version but I still get the same result.

I had a similar problem on my work computer. I had to go in to disable add ons, and disable the older Java version.

Thanks so much for posting this! Now I can print from Bricks. I use FF and have had prior issues printing from SS. I found that updating Java wasn’t enough for FF like it was for IE. To print in FF, I had to also uninstall the old versions of Java from the PC plus from the FF add-ons.
Tracie says
I am so glad that I was able to help. I know how frustrating it is when you can’t print a coupon.

Same problem as Bessie and nothing works. Emailed them and nothing they offered helped either. Guess I will give up on SS coupons

I have a problem with partial coupons printing out and some of the barcode being cutoff. What can i do to fix this? I tried rotating the print but they still print from left to right on the short side of the page.
