Previously I shared with all of you about an event I am personally taking part in called Couponing for Community. If you missed that post (or just need a quick refresher), I’ll remind you. Simply put – it is YOUR chance to pay it forward. So many of us are able to get items for free (or close to it) each week. I know we all see those deals for products we don’t personally use, but they are so good we hate passing them up. Now we can ALL take advantage of those deals and share them with those we don’t even know.
You simply using your sharp couponing and saving skills and donate the items you get for free (or close to it) to your local food pantry or shelter. You could even donate it to a family you know who has fallen upon hard times. It doesn’t matter where your items go – as long as they go to someone who can use them.
This year’s event starts today, May 8th and runs through this Saturday, May 14th. Our goal? To donate at least 10,000 items between bloggers and readers. You will be able to share your story on the Community for Community Facebook page. So make sure that you We’ll all be able to see where we are at with a tracker to keep a tally of every one’s progress.
One thing to remember is to keep track of the number of items you donate – not the value. You’ll be able to add yours to the total tally list — to help us all reach our goal of 10,000 items donated! Let’s all put our extreme couponing skills to work in a way that they are really intended – to pay it forward to those who are less fortunate than all of us!
I know that I have aruond 25 items so far that I am donating – and am sure I’ll find even more when I go “shopping” in my stockpile later this week. If you share, please leave a comment here to let us all know how many items you’ve given to soemone else. I know Penny Pinchin’ Mom readers are some of the most generous caring readers out there, so I’d love to hear your stories too!!!
