Even though your budget is tight, it doesn’t mean your date night has to be a bust. Whether you are going on out your first date or your first date night out since the baby arrived, you can save money! Here are some simple things you can do:
If it is a first date, you might not be sure if it is going to be a match you want to pursue (for either of you). Start small and meet at a Coffeehouse and spring for a cup of coffee and pastry. This will cost you very little money, however, sitting and talking over coffee gives you a better chance to get to know one another. Then, if you both want that second date, you can opt for a restaurant and spend a little more.
Even in the winter months, you can enjoy the season. If there is snow on the ground, go sledding. In the spring or fall, get out for a nature walk. If you live near a beach, you could walk along the shore. You can try to find interesting things in nature such as rare birds in the winter, shells along the beach or unique and colorful leaves. When done, go get hot cocoa to warm up or sit with a tall iced tea to cool down.
WINERY / BREWERY TOUR
These can be a fun way to try something you might otherwise do. You can tour various wineries and/or breweries at little to no cost. You might learn a few new tips and enjoy trying new brew or vintages.
MOVIE NIGHT IN
Why pay $25 for movie tickets and another $30 on snacks to catch a movie? You can dim the lights, pick up a Redbox Rental and some snacks and make movie night at home. The best part is that if you need to go to the bathroom you can pause and not miss a single scene!
With all of technology, it seems everyone is reading eBooks. Why not get out and check out your local book store for books in print. You can try to find the funniest or strangest title in the store. You might even learn something new about your partner.
BOWL ONE ANOTHER OVER
Let’s Go Bowling! Bowling is a great sport whether the ball stays on the lane or ends up in the gutter. You can grab some food a drink and sit back and laugh — even at yourself.
HOT IN THE KITCHEN
Why not cook a romantic dinner together. You could even turn it into your very own “Chopped-inspired” meal. Hit the store and pick up 4 random ingredients (you get 2 and your partner can get 2). Don’t cheat and tell one another. Just make sure that one gets your meat item, another product, etc (so you can actually make something). Have fun seeing what you can create together.
