A few weeks have gone by and so I thought we’d check in and see how your Debt Free Challenge is coming along. It is so simple to get off track and to let life (and the “unexpecteds”) take you off course. If you are, it’s time to cinch up your belt and get going agai -I know you can do it!
I was trying to think about what I could do to movitate you and what better than personal experiences. We once again are getting ready to make more purchases – with cash! We are needing new recliners (ours have rips through them). We held a garage sale and have been saving our weekly grocery savings and now we have all we need to update.
Sure, we could have dipped into our emergency fund about a year ago when the chairs first started to look bad. ( And yes, it is emergency fund as we do not OWN credit cards – not one.) However, it was more important to us to take care of having enough money saved up should we have the unexpected come along. That meant making sure our priorities are correct. Even when you are out of debt, it doesn’t change how you live. You live smarter, you live stronger – you just live the life everyone else would love.
If you are new to the site and are sitting there asking “What is the Debt Free Challenge and can I join?” it isn’t too late!! Quite simply put, the Debt Free / Savings Challenge is my way to help readers get themselves out of debt. I have shared many tools, tips and ideas to help you do just that. So, if you want to join in and see how much debt you can eliminate before December 31, 2011, it isn’t too late! You can find links to all of the articles here – just start on week 1 and work at your own pace.
Now, if you have recently paid off a bill, you can add it to the tally sheet for the site. This sheet is totally anonymous – I have no way to link it back to you. It also isn’t required to fill out, but I think it would be amazing to be able to share the total amount of debt eliminated by all of you within one year. Head HERE to fill out the form only with the amount you paid off – not any bills you have.
So, you wanna know how much debt all of you have eliminated since January 1, 2011? Our year to date total is:
WHOLY COW!!! I never imagined you all could that – this is just amazing!!!
If you need more help, I’d highly recommend that you check out CommunityAmerica Credit Union’s Financial Makeover. They will help any of you with any questions you have – whether you are a member or not!
So, keep on keepin’ on! You can do it! Before you know it, you will be able to shout “WE’RE DEBT FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
