It can be difficult to know just want to get Mom for Mother's Day! We love this fun DIY Mother's Day Photo Collage idea and it's so easy to do yourself. See how we did it!

Every year I struggle with what to get my Mom on Mother’s Day — and even my Dad on Father’s Day!  They both men so much to me and I want to make sure that they know that.

This year, I decided to do something different.  Rather than just giving them each pictures of the kids, I created photo collages.  It was so easy to do and I’ll share some of my own tips to make it simple for you too!

First, I bought the letters, “M” and  “O” from the craft section at Walmart (and then also “D” and “A”). I didn’t paint them or anything, because I knew the photos I was going to print were going to be black and white (I’ll share why in a moment.) Then, I got my girls dressed and did their hair, and just took them in the bedroom to snap a couple of shots. The great thing about these photos is that they don’t have to be perfectly staged, or have perfect smiles, but can just be your kids being your kids. It’s awesome. Candid photos are even cute!

I have two daughters, so I knew I wanted to alternate the letters. I had my oldest hold a “M” while I took her picture. Make sure you take the photos horizontally (that way, you will not need to edit them).  Then I brought in my sweet baby girl and put her on the boppy, and placed the “M” next to her and took her picture. Then I put both of my girls together and had my oldest hold the “O” and took their picture. Now I had all the shots I would need to spell out “MOM” in my collage. If you wanted to do “Mommy” or “Mama” or “Nana” or something of the like, you could do that too. The options are endless!

The next step was to print them. I knew I was going to Walmart to grab my frame anyway, so I uploaded the three pictures into the Walmart Photo Center.  I printed them for the size of the frame I had purchased, in this case, 4×6.  I also selected black and white so that it would look clean and crisp.  My total, including tax, was only $0.82!

Why black and white? Two reasons. 1. I didn’t have to paint the letter that way, and it still showed up nicely in the photos. 2. My girls didn’t have to match! They could wear completely different colors!!  Pictures can be stressful enough – don’t make it harder by making them full color!

I found the frame I used at Walmart for less than $10.  It’s pretty without being flashy – and that was just what I needed! Simply put your newly printed pictures in their frame, and your DIY project is finished for less than $12.00!
