I am so excited about this new Silhouette Valentines project! It was super easy to make and my daughter is so excited about her 3D Valentines Mailbox! In fact it turned out so great we are making several more for her to give as gifts to friends and teachers!
- Silhouette Portrait or Cameo Machine
- 3 pieces of DCVW scrapbook paper (cardstock thickness is best)
- Supplies to decorate
To make this 3D Valentine Mailbox simply go HERE and purchase the file from the Silhouette store (just $0.99). Open the file in your Silhouette program. The file is a bit larger than the cutting mat, so you are going to want to “ungroup” the images. To do this simply draw a box around the entire image go to “Object” and click “ungroup”. This will allow you can move each image around individually and place them in such a way as to fit your cutting mat. I ended up printing mine on 3 separate pieces of scrapbook paper cut to 8″ x 11″.
For your cutting settings select “Patterned Paper” and set your blade to a “3”. Click “cut”.
Now that all of your pieces have been cut, simply begin to configure your mailbox. This part is pretty self explanatory. The corner pieces with the jagged corners go on the sides of the mailbox. The longest piece is the back piece that goes up over the top of the mailbox. Finally the front piece is the tall piece with the hole in the front. Glue all of these pieces together. To finish the project there are extra front and side pieces to use as decor in a different paper pattern.
To decorate I simply printed several extra hearts, used a piece of ribbon and folded some accordion pieces to make the hearts look like they pop!
This project only took about 20 minutes to do start to finish! You can print on any color or design paper and make this mailbox as unique as you would like!
