My kids love to get creative. We have play-doh and have made many creations with it, but they wanted to try something new and asked me if they couldn’t create with clay. Rather than run out and buy it, I decided to give it a shot and make it myself. This really is a simple recipe!
The ingredients list is really simple – and probably items you have in your pantry right now:
1 cup flour
1 cup water
1/2 cup salt
1 tsp. vegetable oil
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
Food coloring (optional)
Just mix them in the order given (and that can be something fun to let your kids get involved in helping you do too)!
Then, cook on the stove until it gets to a thick consistency which is, well, claylike! You can split your batch and add in food coloring while it is cooking, or knead it in afterwards. The result – lots of summertime fun for your kids!!!
