If any of you are like me, the one thorn in your side is figuring out WHAT to fix for meals for the week. It isn’t even just figuring your menu, it is also making your shopping list. I have tried to help some of you with our Menu Plan Saturday posts, but they don’t help as much as I’d like for them to.
E-Mealz relies on a team of experienced meal planners, writers and editors to create new dinner menus every week that are designed around grocery store sales, seasonal specials and diet preferences. For $5.00 per month, subscribers download a recipe plan for the week with a matching aisle-by-aisle grocery list. The easy-to-follow recipes usually contain fewer than seven ingredients to allow for prep times of less than 30 minutes. It also helps families stay within a predictable budget by being prepared with a detailed list to use at the grocery store.
The E-Mealz program provides a consistent and reliable approach to food budgeting by factoring the weekly cost of ingredients into each menu plan. Menus are created around a budget of $75 per week for families and $35 per week for couples.
E-Mealz was created by sisters Jane DeLaney, mother of four, and Jenny Cochran, mother of three. The sisters were frustrated by the challenge of coming up with healthy, budget-conscious meals for their own families and inspired by their own mother’s frugal ways, they launched the program in 2003.
So, when I was contacted by E-Mealz about their service, I was very intrigued. Of course, I don’t like to pay for services that I don’t find worth the cost. However, I also realize that my time is worth something as well. I have to weigh how much time I spend planning meals and shopping trips. Once I did that, the cost seemed worth it.
The first thing I noticed is how tailored they can make it for you. If you have certain health concerns (i.e. low fat, gluten free) or even if you happen to be vegetarian, they will plan meals that work for you. They even have options to help you plan menus based upon the deals at select local stores. This can absolutely save you time and money.
I opted for the E-Mealz any-store meal plan to try out the service. I loved that I just clicked one button and saw my entire menu planned for me. Not only that, it told me what I would need. And it went further than that and even told me what I would need as far as my staples in my pantry! I will say that my family is a little on the picky side, so a couple of the meals didn’t work for us, but the fact that over one-half of my meals were instantly planned for me was pretty awesome!
So you are probably sitting there wondering what the cost is for E-Mealz. It is just $1.25 per week — $5 a month. You are billed at $15 increments for a 3 month service. I know I spend around an hour planning meals and shopping lists and my time is worth more than $1.25. This is really a bargain! One final thing I wanted to mention is that I think it is so great that Dave Ramsey even loves this site (and my family loves what Dave Ramsey teaches).
Not only do they offer meal planning, you can even check out their great blog for ways to simplify your life, organize your days and for some great family fun ideas! I love having resources available to help people just make life a little easier and less stressful!
