Are you ready for a great event filled with fantastic prizes? Our first giveaway will be sure to put a smile on the face any Snoopy or Peanuts fan … or anyone who has fond memories of the saying, “Good Grief Charlie Brown“! The Peanuts comic strip by Charles Schulz that began in 1950 and lasted for 50 years, went way beyond the newspaper. Snoopy has become one of the most beloved comic strip characters, along with Charlie Brown and the whole gang of Peanuts characters. Holiday TV Specials such as A Charlie Brown Christmas and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown have become timeless classics, and must-see shows during holiday time, and they continue to delight each year.
Also- be sure to check out Peanuts.com … a wonderful collection of everything from Vintage Snoopy to current Peanuts Gang happenings. This comic strip that has warmed the hearts of so many children and grown ups alike, continues to do so today.
My kids and I were thrilled to look at all of the items we received. My personal favorite was the Peanuts Collection Coffee Table Book. This was unreal!! It is filled with more facts than you could ever imagine. There are photos and snipets of articles, shows, movies….just about anything and everything you could ever want to know about Peanuts.
Another item that I thought was wonderful was the collectible figurine of Linus and Snoopy. It reminded me of my 2 year old — she loves her blanket just as much as sweet Linus does. It is numbered and comes in a box – perfect for any collector. Of course the Snoopy t-shirt was just absolutely adorable too. My 6 year old thought she could wear it….so it looks like she has acquired a new night shirt as well.
My oldest daughter would have to say her favorite was a tie between the lunch bag and the Happiness is Warm Blanket Blu-ray. She immediately requested that we retire her Spiderman lunchbox and start using that one right away. Of course, she also ripped the wrapper off and popped into into our Blu-ray player. It has already beenviewed several times over. That one touches my heart as you watch Linus try to live without his beloved blanket…..makes me want to cry.
Peanuts Worldwide is giving, one lucky Penny Pinchin Mom reader will win a prize package that includes The Peanuts Collection Coffee Table Book, a Hallmark Happiness is Hanging Out Together Figurine, Snoopy T-Shirt, a Hallmark Happiness is a Full Tummy Lunch Bag and a
Blu-ray/DVD called Happiness is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown.
Entry is simple! You just need to answer the question below by leaving a comment on this site! You can even gain up to 3 bonus entries for doing each additional item listed (just make sure that you leave one entry for each one — up to a total of 4 comments.) As a reminder, comments left on Facebook, Twitter or other posts will not be included.
REQUIRED ENTRY:
1. Share your Peanuts favorite memory; be it a comic strip, character or even a scene from one of the classic holiday cartoons.
BONUS ENTRIES:
1. Follow Penny Pinchin’ Mom on a reader or through the daily e-mail digest.
2. Follow Penny Pinchin’ Mom on Twitter or Facebook.
3. Go to the FAQ page on Peanuts and then come back and leave a comment sharing something new that you learned about the Peanuts Gang Comic Strip.
This giveaway will remain open until 11:59 p.m. EST, Friday, April 29th. Any comments left after this cut-off will not be counted. The winner will be selected randomly and will be notified via email within 48 hours after the close of the contest.
You can go ahead and print out this spreadsheet to help guide you through all of the entries on all of the blogs.

I didn’t realize that the two girls dancing in the Christmas special had names…This is the response from the website.
Q. Who are the dancing girls featured in A Charlie Brown Christmas?
A. The twin sisters named “Three” and “Four,” who are most commonly recognized as the bouncy dancing girls in A Charlie Brown Christmas, were characters from the daily PEANUTS in the 60’s. They had an Older Brother named “Five.” In the strips’ story line, their father names them with numbers in protest of society’s ever-growing trend of reducing human lives to statistics. Their last name is actually 95742 – the family’s zip code. Most have deduced that this was a bit of Mr. Schulz’s social commentary as to 1960’s activism. Each of the three characters was seldom seen after the early 70’s.

Q. Does Charlie Brown have a girlfriend?
A. Actually between 1990 and 1991, he did.
He met Peggy Jean at summer camp. He was so enamored (and extremely nervous), that he introduced himself as Brownie Charles, the name by which she would know him until she moved away. Throughout their relationship, he was continually torn between Peggy Jean and his affection for the Little Red-Haired Girl.

* Belle – his only sister
* Marbles – “the smart one”, a spotted beagle
* Olaf – aka Ugly “Olaf”, a much fuller-bodied beagle

Q. What does Charlie Brown’s dad do for a living?
A. He was a barber – just as Mr. Schulz’s own father was.
Interesting I did not know this! Funny I often wondered where his parents were. My favorite peanuts memories are watching the Christmas Special with my kids. I am always so touched when I listen to the true meaning of Christmas speech that Linus gives. “And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the lord shone round about them, and they were so afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not, for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you this day is born in the City of Bethlehem, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; you shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good will toward men'”. That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie brown.” -Linus”
