The holidays are coming up soon, which means your kids will be making out their wish lists. I have recently had the chance to review some Hasbro products, and will share my thoughts with you over the next week or so.
The first set of reviews are for two games: Scrabble Electronic Scoring Game and My Monopoly. Read more below to learn what we had to say about these games.
My 10 year old daughter loves to play Scrabble with me. However, I’ll be honest – we don’t keep score, because it isn’t fun to. However, with this game, it was easy. She actually learned that she was able to beat her mom! (Hmmm….maybe that was the real reason we didn’t keep score……).
The first thing you need to know is that the game itself doesn’t automatically score for you. You will actually play the game as usual. You will tally your points for the word you create. Then, dial it into the handheld scoring device and it will tally your score. It is great because you don’t have to be a scorekeeper, need paper or a pen. You can even find out which player has the highest word score — which can bring another fun element to the game.
Another feature I liked about the game were the tiles. They were red with white letters. That makes them easier to read (in my personal opinion). They are definitely made to last, so you won’t have to worry about chips or fading. Even better than that? The game comes with a bag to store your tiles! As a mom, it is usually simple features such as this, which give a game kudos from me!
All in all, we loved this game. The only thing which would make it better is if I could beat my daughter. Geesh – she is one smart cookie!!
The other game we tried was My Monopoly. This game is the same you are used to playing with one small change — YOU are in the game! You can personalize your game within just a few minutes!
You simply use the Monopoly App or Website and create your own customized properties, game tokens, Chance and Community Chess cards! You can include your favorite teams, people, places, foods — anything you want! You can use your images on Facebook, Instagram, Shutterfly, your computer — and more. Just add them to your game pieces and place them as you choose around the game board and you are ready to start playing!
My kids had fun adding silly things to ours such as Minecraft Lane, Pizza Palace, Dad’s Turkey Hunting Shack…..and more! I think they actually spent more time giggling about the names than they did actually playing the game.
It was so much fun to get them all involved in a game with us, which actually kept them interested for more than 10 minutes — double bonus!!!!
So there you’ve got it! Two honest reviews from us for these games. So you can make your own decisions as to whether you think they will work for your kids come this holiday season!
Penny Pinchin’ Mom received these products in order to facilitate her review. All opinions are her own and were not influenced by any parties.
