It might be summer, but that doesn’t mean you should not already be planning ahead for the holidays! December will be here before you know it and you will want to make sure you are prepared for your holiday shopping.
It is always best to pay cash for your holidays. When you have a set budget and cash figure, you can’t overspend – because you just don’t have it to spend! Take a look at what you spent last year and use that as a gauge for what you might spend this year.
If you aren’t sure how much you need, you could simply start saving $20 a week. That would give you $400 by the first part of December. While that may not fully cover all of your purchases, it sure won’t hurt! Make sure you start saving sooner in 2014 so you will not have to worry about how to pay for the holidays.
You could even start to save all of your change. You would be surprised at how much you can save in a short period of time. So, if your total is $4.37, hand over a $5 bill and then put $0.63 into a jar or bucket. We do this each year and it is amazing how much money we can save over the course of a year!
However you plan on paying for your holiday purchases, just make sure you look at it now and don’t let it sneak up on you. Trust me – December will be here before you know it! Will you be ready?
