Do your kids love silly putty, gak, slime or any of those? I know all of my kids do, and even more so they love making it themselves!  Creating Gak is super easy when you follow this recipe.  The kids and I made it once and then they were each able to make it themselves while I supervised.

Making flubber is a great summer project for the kids. Not only is it good “experimentally” but it helps kids learn to follow excellent exploratory learning and following directions!

HOW TO MAKE FLUBBER

SUPPLIES

1/2 cup cold water
1 cup Elmer’s glue (2 bottles)
liquid food coloring (4-10 drops depending on the color you would like)
1/2 cup hot water
1 teaspoon borax

DIRECTIONS

In a small bowl, mix hot water and borax and let sit until completely dissolved.  In another larger bowl, combine cold water, glue, and food coloring until blended.

Slowly add the borax mixture to the glue mixture.  As you add them together, continue stirring.  You will see it begins to solidify.  Once you reach the desired consistency, stop pouring and allow it to sit for 2 minutes.

Pour out any excess liquid, and it is ready to use!  Store in an airtight container.
