We all know how to save money on toilet paper and laundry detergent, but what about your cell phone? Did you know you can actually save money here as well? Here are a few easy money saving tips to knock a few dollars off of your monthly bill:
Bundle To Save. Some companies will offer discounted rates if you bundle your service. If you use them for your internet, cable and cell phone, you can sometimes receive a discount.
Avoid Going Over Your Minutes. The quickest way people see their cell phone bills creep up is by going over minutes or texts. There are apps you can download to keep track on your minutes so you can make sure to scale back if you are nearing the cap of your limit for the month. If you have an iPhone, you can try DataMan or if you have an Android phone, you can use DroidStats.
Get Into A Family Plan. Oftentimes, when you are in a family plan, you can share those minutes. Rather than each individual needing to purchase a plan, you have one and you all share the data. Some plans allow you to share up to 10 devices – including notepads! This can help you from having to overbuy for each device and not use your minutes, which can also be a waste of money!
Look into Unlimited Plans. Sometimes, this might be a better option. If you find that you are always going over the data/minute limits for the plans which are offered, you might be better off to purchase an unlimited plan. Sure, you might pay a little more for your basic plan, but avoiding the high overage charges can save you in the end.
Talk To Your Carrier. If you’ve had your plan for a while and show you have loyalty, you might be able to negotiate additional deals for yourself. Most of these types of offers are not made publicly, but if you call in, you might be able to get a better deal.
Go with PrePaid. If you don’t use your phone very often, this might be the best option for you. You pay for your minutes in advance and only use them as you need to. This avoids the monthly service fees, but still gives you access to your phone when you need to use it!
