Reader Casey shared this interesting find with me in our Penny Pinchin’ Mom Facebook Group. She was at her local Walmart and noticed that many of the meats had yellow tags on them, which usually means that they are reduced. The people near her were grabbing these items, simply because of the tags.
She thought she would take a moment and peel back the tag, just to find out how much the prices had been reduced. Imagine her surprise when the prices were actually HIGHER than the original stickers! She was glad she checked so that she didn’t end up paying more than she should have for her items.
It is always very smart to check the original prices of products before you purchase them simply because they say reduced or on clearance. While it is normally a true discount, there can be instances where the prices are not really what they seem to be!
Have you ever had this happen to you? If so, did you mention it to the store manager or do anything about it?
Thanks for sharing this with us Casey!

I have had this happen many times at Goodwill when looking at the items from Target. Goodwill carries a lot of items from Target and many of them still have the Target price tags on them. I was looking at some of the toys and the last price at Target was something like 3.98 but the Goodwill price was 4.99. I told the manager of the store but the response was like, “Oh well”. Also when they have percentage off sales in the store the Target items are not included.

I am happy to say that my local grocery store places the reduced price sticker on the package so that you can still see the original price.
Maybe I am just nosey, but I always try to see what is under any added sticker. 🙂
