New Year's Eve Cupcake Toppers

I love the holidays, but reality is, by the time Christmas passes and New Year’s Eve gets here, I’m exhausted. I still want to make the evening special, without spending a ton of time or money on decor and special treats. These New Year’s Eve Cupcake Toppers are SUPER simple, and make every cupcake special without a lot of effort!

These New Year’s Eve Cupcake Toppers are also great for little hands, because they have the look of a sparkler, without the harm or heat of a sparkler. These also help use up bits of that Christmas garland you may have sitting around. I really enjoy making these, and can make a ton for little to no cost at all!

Supplies:

Toothpicks
Silver or Gold Christmas Garland
Hot Glue Gun

Plug in your hot glue gun so it can be warming up while you prepare the rest of your items. Get out one toothpick for each cupcake you plan to make. Cut small bits of the silver or gold garland, mine were about 1/2″ long, to use as the sparkler bit on the end of your toothpick.

Using your hot glue gun, make a small dot of glue on the end of your toothpick. Carefully place one of the small pieces of garland on the glue and gently hold it while it cools. Allow them to dry for about ten minutes before using them in your cupcakes. To use them as cupcake decor, simply press the toothpick into the center of a frosted cupcake!

Disclaimer: while these are safer than sparklers for small children, children should still be supervised while they have these. The sharp end on the toothpick could cause injury, and the garland or toothpick shouldn’t be consumed.
