Amazon Prime members may have to pay more to enjoy this service. Amazon is considering raising the annual fee from $79 to $99 — or even as much as $119!
What you may not realize is that the $79 fee has been in place since it’s inception in 2005. That means no increases for nearly a decade – even with the rise in shipping costs.
This increase is not yet confirmed, but is just being considered by Amazon. We also don’t know if existing members would be grandfathered in at the reduced price, or if they would have to pay the increased costs when it comes time for them to renew.
This is something that we are watching carefully. If this happens to go into effect, we will be sure to pass along the details to you, so you stay informed.
For me personally, I would pay an additional $20 because I know I save more than the $99 annual fee. With all of the bonuses we get from free shipping, to books we can borrow and free digital movies, it makes it worth the cost. Find out more as to Why I Believe Amazon Prime is Worth the Cost.
