Ask and you shall receive! Back in January, I had a meeting with Price Chopper and the first topic of discussion was how important it was for consumers to have a written coupon policy that they could refer to when shopping at any of the area Price Chopper stores. This was something that they had been working on, so the five area owners sat down and worked together to create Coupon Guidelines. You can find these on the new Price Chopper website, here. I would recommend that you take the time to read and print them so you will know what coupons will be accepted when you shop (you’ll notice an increased value limit on those internet printables now)!

I’m concerned about the $5.00 limit. Is that for internet printables only? I do Houseparty.com often and (for example) the last party I did was for Dijiorno pizza & breadsticks and the coupons were about $7ish (free product). It’s nice to have a policy in print though!
Tracie says
This is strictly for internet printables. The old policy was $3.00 …. so they have increased it.

I assume the Kids Club coupons are still exempt from the
“No “FREE” computer generated coupons will be accepted.”
rule?
Tracie says
Yes – anything issue by Price Chopper itself is exempt.

What about policy for non-internet coupons?
I have been given conflicting information about stacking store and manufacturer coupons. One cashier let me do it because the cash register didn’t complain and another cashier sent me to customer service where the woman acted like I was a thief for trying to get the item for less.
And more recently, I must have reached some sort of coupon limit because the cash register insisted on manager approval for my last half dozen coupons. All of my transactions were legit, it was just like it didn’t believe I could have so many coupons for one order.
Tracie says
You can stack store coupons and manufacturer’s coupons. However, I have RARELY seen Price Chopper store coupons. May I ask where you find them? The reason that the system beeps after so many coupons is because of those who are not being honest. They have increased the number of coupons allowed per transaction so that it shouldn’t beep as quickly at you.
Amber says
The store coupon I was trying to stack was the Kids Club coupon. The cashier let me when it was for microwaveable popcorn, but then another wouldn’t let me stack a manufacturer coupon with the kids club coupon for the dannon crush cups.
Tracie says
This is one of those YMMV issues (Your mileage may vary). Some stores/clerks will let you and others won’t. I’ve stacked like you before and not had any problems. The computer didn’t beep at me.
Eric in OP (also KCJohnGalt at SD) says
I did notice their policy this morning – first thing I did after booting the computer was to check out the grocery store ads online (the preview ads didn’t show up in my real mailbox yesterday). Glad to see one posted – I wish Sun Fresh would do the same for their double coupon policy. Since Sun Fresh didn’t have it up, I called the Lipari’s location and confirmed they double up to $0.50 and they don’t limit you on the number of like coupons like Hen House’s official policy does, though it seems to be rarely enforced unless you’ve got a ridiculous number and they don’t want you to clear the shelves. They also said they thought the double coupon policy was in effect for all Sun Fresh stores, but didn’t know for sure.

I see one of the rules is that the coupon must scan at the register. I have lots of problems with my printed coupons scanning. Any suggestions?
Tracie says
These are coupon guidelines which means that the stores all must adhere to them …. but can be more gracious if they so choose. I have problems with Roberts Dairy coupons scanning. The clerks never question that coupon and always override it. They still can do this — but if a cashier refuses to take it because it won’t scan, don’t be surprised.
What I also do when I have problems with coupons scanning is to email the company to let them know and they will often times send out coupons to you that won’t have the same problems scanning.

Thanks, Tracie! Printing this for my coupon binder now. 🙂

It doesn’t say anything about internet coupons that are BOGO. I’ve had trouble using these at Price Chopper because you are getting an item for free, but it seems like it should be in a different category as the “free” internet coupons since you do have to make a purchase.
Tracie says
Internet printed B1G1 coupons are still not accepted.

I sure wish Wal-Mart would put its coupon policy in writing and educate its cashiers about it. I get such conflicting information when I go there.
