The kids will love creating rainbow food!  They get to play with and get creative — all before they gobble it up!  An edible rainbow is the perfect way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day or even the first day of spring!!

Rainbow Snack

Cute and creative food doesn’t have to be difficult or require a lot of planning and decorating know-how! This fun Rainbow Snack is the perfect proof of that!

It’s something so easy that you can do it even on a busy morning, or let kids do it themselves! It would be an excellent way to keep kids entertained for a bit by allowing them to make their own edible rainbow snack!

Rainbow food would also be a perfect activity for a Unicorn party, or for St. Patrick’s Day too! There’s no worries about picky eaters either, since most kids like Fruit Loops and marshmallows! I know my kids love them, and the pretty colors make this a fun activity even if they won’t eat it!

This is also a great way to teach kids about the spectrum of colors in the rainbow. You can go over what colors are included in the rainbow and why they show up that way. You could even take the time to show them a prism and create your own mini rainbow right in the room! Kids love seeing that and learning about it!

HOW TO MAKE AN EDIBLE RAINBOW

SUPPLIES

Mini marshmallows
Fruit Loops cereal (off-brand works just fine too)
Paper or plate

INSTRUCTIONS

First place the cloud of marshmallows on one side.  Then, begin adding the rainbow arches.  You can follow the spectrum, or let the kids just create as they see fit.

This craft is so much fun because the kids can make a rainbow in the way they want.  Then, when finished, gobble it up and then start over again!

We normally tell kids not to play with their food, but this fun idea encourage play!
