If you have kids, you probably here these words over and over again — “Tell me a story!” Of course, they often want it to be something they’ve never heard before. My mind can come up with a few new ideas, but after a while, it becomes a challenge.
I came up with a fun interactive way to create a story. I developed these story rocks. They are fun because they make sure your story is different every single time. Plus, your kids get to have a part as they will pull a rock from the sack, which makes them part of the fun.
Other fun DIYs for the kids:
Paint and brush
Paint different pictures on each rock. I would try to create at least 5 – 10 rocks for each bag. I painted a cowboy boot, an apple, a house, a snake, a fish, a mountain, a balloon, and a truck. We keep our sets in little drawstring bags, and grab them out at random for story time. When you get tired of how they are bagged, you can take all the rocks out, and mix them up again, and put a few in each bag.
This makes story time a game for us, and so much fun! I have a small one in my bag so that we can use it when we are out and about at the doctor’s office or anywhere that we have to wait. It really helps pass the time.
Not only is it a fun way to tell a story, it is also a lot of fun painting them up!
