There is an old saying that nothing in life is guaranteed except death and taxes. Sad – but true. So, since you must file taxes (or get yourself a one way ticket to a comfy 3×3 “suite”), here are some ways to save some money while doing so!
I do want to remind my fellow bloggers that if you made even $0.01, that you will have to file a Schedule C to declare your income. You may want to talk to a tax professional about what you can or can not deduct and how to report free items and products that you have received.

TaxAct: You can file your Federal Return for Free. You will have to pay to file your State Return (if one is required). Keep in mind that your return will be free if you require no assistance in completing your form. The maximum price is $17.95 for both state and federal.
Free Tax USA: You can prepare your federal return for free and pay only $9.95 for your state return. If your tax situation requires the deluxe version, that will just cost you an additional $5.95.
Taxslayer: This company will charge $9.95 for your federal return. If you happen to be a member of the military – you can file here for FREE! (I searched all over this site to find out the cost of the state return, but was unsuccessful).
H&R Block: Starts as low as Free for Federal clear up to $49.95. Your state return will cost $29.95 – no matter which option you choose. If you are military, you can head here and get yours completed for free. If you sign up for emails, you will also be able to save 10% off of your tax preparation. Just go to the bottom of this screen and fill in your email address.
TurboTax: On-line services start as low as Free clear up to $129.95 for business. Your state reutrn is an additional $27.95 if you use the Free option and $36.95 for all other software options.
However, If you use this link, you can get a reduced price for all options….as low as $11.20 for Federal and then $27.70 for State. If you made less than $31,000 or are military – head here and do your taxes for free.
H&R Block: You can get the package downloaded for only $30.00 from New Egg.
Turbo Tax: The prices really vary based upon the type of package you need to download. Head here to check out the various prices — from $22.99 and up.
Jackson Hewitt: You can print this coupon for $20.00 off of your 2010 tax preparation services. You can find your local office at the top page of this same link.
