Walmart recently launched a new service called Home Free TM shipping. When you purchase $45 worth of select home and consumable products you can get your entire order shipped for FREE!
When you shop, all you need to do is look for the HomeFree link next to the product. It looks like this:
Then, add $45 worth of items that meet this criteria and your order ships for free!
“But Tracie, I can’t use my coupons!” That is true, but there are times when not using a $0.50 off coupon on something might be worth it. Or, you can just pick up those items for which you rarely find coupons — without leaving your home! I can see this being so helpful for those who do not live near a store or during the cold winter months, when you just don’t want to leave your home!
I actually was challenged to see what I could pick up for $45. Rather than just adding 23 $2 items to my cart, I “shopped”. I picked up the items I knew my family could actually use. So, want to know what was in MY shopping cart? Here’s my list:
2 Boxes of Lucky Charms
2 Boxes of Kellogg’s Special K Cereal Bars
Great Value Aluminum Foil (50 ft)
Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner
Gladware Mini Rounds
Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing, 8 oz
Kotex 36 ct
Cascade All in One Tablets, 48 ct
Kellogg’s Pop Tarts, 16 ct
Tide Laundry Tabs Duo, large package
My grand total was $45.82 before taxes. So for less than $50 – I picked up these items. I also checked my coupons and I would have saved:
$0.50/1 Tide Stain Release
$1/2 Lucky Charms
So….I would have saved $3 on my purchase had I shopped at my local store. However, I would have had to have driven the store, which burn fuel. I would have also spent time at the store actually shopping. The way I look at it – I came out ahead when I calculate in my personal time.
Next time you need to shop, you might want to take another look at Walmart’s HomeFree service. Remember to add in the coupon savings against the items you need and take into account your fuel and personal time — and you just might be surprised at how much you can save by shopping from home!
