Good morning Channel 9 Viewers and WELCOME to Kansas City Penny Pinchin’ Mama! I hope you are ready to learn how to not only stretch your holiday budget but your grocery and dining out budgets too! So, let’s get started!
First, let’s talk about price matching. The most important thing to keep in mind is that every store is different as to how the price matching policy works.
Stores such as Sears and Best Buy will actually go on line with you when you want to purchase something to price match and give you the lowest price right on the spot. Most stores, however, required the printed ad from the newspaper insert or home mailing before they will price match. So that means you won’t be able to print the weekly ad from the on-line link and get price matching. Disappointing, I know.
As I mentioned, understanding price matching is extremely important. There are exclusions, such as not honoring Buy 1 Get 1 Free offers or some “timed” events (door busters, etc). I recommend that you take the time to not only read each store’s policy, but actually print and take them with you to the store. Here are links to Price Matching and Coupon Policies for some stores:
Price Chopper: Lowest Price Guarantee (no written coupon policy – varies from store to store)
Hy-Vee: Coupon Policy
Hen House: Coupon Policy
Walgreen: No Written Policy
CVS: The policy is not available on-line. Contact me if you wish for me to send you a written copy.
You also saw Dion Lim and I talking about some stores accepting competitor’s coupons. What is great about this is the fact that you can take in a great coupon from a competitor to the store that is closest to you – -and still get a great money saving deal!
Some of the stores that accept competitor’s coupons include:
These are a few of the stores I know accept other store coupons — and more stores jump on the band wagon all of the time. So, this list continues to grow. If you learn of a store I don’t have listed, please let me know so I can add them.
If you are wanting to learn how to use coupons, just select Coupon 101 from the menu and you can find several sub-menus with links to posts to help you learn everything from how to read a coupon to keeping them all organized.
Each week you can also find the match-ups for coupons with each of the 3 largest area grocery stores: Hen House, Price Chopper and Hy-Vee. Just click on Grocery Stores from the menu and then whichever store you are looking to shop at to find the list that will help save you money.
You might want to sign up for the daily e-mail digest, which sends you a list linking all of my posts for the day, so that you never miss out on a great deal or freebie! Sign up here to get on the mailing list.
Thanks again for stopping by and I hope that you find many ways to help save you and your family money. After all, it isn’t what you spend – it’s what you keep!
